- Thursday Night Game: Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins, with Miami favored by -1 and a total of 51 points.
- Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs, a key early-season matchup with significant implications.
- San Francisco travels to Minnesota on a short week.
The second week of the 2024 NFL season may not have the number of marquee NFL matchups, but there are still some good contests. The week starts off strong with an AFC East battle between Buffalo and Miami.
Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.
The Bengals visiting the Chiefs is the best game of the bunch Sunday, although Chicago at Houston offers some intrigue. All-in-all, it’s a schedule NFL fans can be content with. It’s time for the NFL 2024 preview Week 2 starting with the Thursday night game between Buffalo and Miami.
Bills vs Dolphins
Day/Time:
Odds: Miami -1
Total: 51
A pretty decent matchup for the Thursday night game, sees Buffalo visiting Miami.
- The NFL betting odds Week 2 have the Dolphins -1 with a high total of 51.
The Bills are coming off a home game against Arizona, while the Dolphins remain at home after hosting Jacksonville in their opening game.
Buffalo and Miami both finished with 11-6 records last year. The Bills had to win their last five games to get that record, while Miami dropped their last two games and the NFL playoff game at Kansas City.
Buffalo won both games against the Dolphins last year and Miami hasn’t really done anything to it can change that. The Bills look especially good in a teaser.
Colts vs Packers
Day/Time:
Odds: Green Bay -4
Total: 47
The NFL point spreads look to be pretty much on the money here, as the Colts visit the Packers. The health of Anthony Richardson will be key for the Colts this season.
The Packers have an extra couple of days between games after they opened the season in Brazil. Provided the Eagles won in Brazil, the Packers could be worth a look returning home after a setback.
Saints vs Cowboys
Day/Time:
Odds: Dallas -6
Total: 44.5
The Cowboys are coming off a tough game at Cleveland, while the Saints opened the season with a home game against the Panthers. It’s quite possible the Saints enter the game 1-0 with the Cowboys at 0-1.
As long as the NFL Week 2 Las Vegas odds stay close to the current number, the Cowboys will be involved in quite a few teasers. Bettors will only need the Cowboys to win after teasing Dallas down. It’s a wager that makes sense and looks to hold a bit of promise.
Buccaneers vs Lions
Day/Time:
Odds: Detroit -6 (-115)
Total: 48.5
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers make the journey North to visit Detroit and the NFL Week 2 over unders look to be a shade high for a Tampa Bay game.
The 48.5 was higher than any regular season game the Bucs played last year, but it is one point lower than the 49.5 in the playoff game between the two. Detroit won 31-23 and this one could very well land over the total.
Giants vs Commanders
Day/Time:
Odds: Washington -3 (Even)
Total: 42.5
A pair of NFC East foes do battle in this one, as the Giants visit Jayden Daniels and the Commanders. Daniels could very well be the most talented player on the field even though he’s just in his second NFL game. Washington played tough despite some very average quarterback play last season.
The Commanders might now show a huge jump in the NFL standings, but should be a better team. Daniels meets his former LSU receiver Malik Nabers here. Take Washington as one of your NFL Week 2 picks against the spread.
Seahawks vs Patriots
Day/Time:
Odds: Seattle -2.5 (-120)
Total: 42.5
This game isn’t one of the better ones on the NFL schedule 2024 and it’s a bit surprising to see the line as low as it is. You do have the West Coast team playing an early game on the East Coast angle in play here.
Still, it seems as though the Seahawks would at least be a three-point favorite. It could be too early in the season to see Drake Maye, but his time will come at some point during the season.
Jets vs Titans
Day/Time:
Odds: New York -4
Total: 43.5
This isn’t the easiest of spots for the Jets, who were at San Francisco on Monday. New York should be a better team than it was a year ago, but it’s also not easy to take the Jets as 4-point favorites on the road.
The Titans have a few question marks coming into this season, so they’re probably not going to be too popular in the NFL Week 2 upset picks. Tennessee could be the right side, although this is a tough game to play.
49ers vs Vikings
Day/Time:
Odds: San Francisco -6
Total: 46.5
The 49ers travel to Minnesota on a short week, but are still good-sized favorites.
- Minnesota really struggled at home last season, going just 2-6.
That’s not what you expect from a team that had fared well in front of the home fans in the past.
San Francisco will attract some attention in the NFL Week 2 picks straight up, but laying six points on the road isn’t ideal coming off the Monday night game.
Browns vs Jaguars
Day/Time:
Odds: Jacksonville -1
Total: 45
The NFL 2024 preview Week 2 has what could turn out to be a decent game here. The Browns played host to the Cowboys last week, while the Jaguars traveled to Miami. If the Jaguars want to return to the playoffs they have to play better at home.
Jacksonville was just 4-5 and one of those wins was when they were designated the home NFL team playing overseas. If the Browns are coming off a win against Dallas, the Jaguars are going to be worth a look.
Chargers vs Panthers
Day/Time:
Odds: Los Angeles -3 (-120)
Total: 41.5
Of all the Week 2 NFL spreads, this is one that appears to be a little bit on the low side. Yes, the Chargers weren’t a very good team last season, but Los Angeles should rebound a little bit.
There’s only one way for the Panthers to climb and that’s upward. The team was pretty bad last season and didn’t pick until No. 32 in the NFL Draft. Carolina could be better than last season, although that’s not really saying a whole lot.
Raiders vs Ravens
Day/Time:
Odds: Baltimore -7.5
Total: 44.5
The NFL Week 2 score predictions are almost crying for a teaser play on the Ravens here. It might not be quite so easy, as Baltimore is coming off the opening Thursday night game with Kansas City. There’s the definite possibility of a letdown if Baltimore can pull off the upset against Kansas City.
There’s also the Cowboys on deck. The Raiders surpassed expectations last year, but did most of their damage at home. Las Vegas was 6-3 at home and just 2-6 on the road.
Rams vs Cardinals
Day/Time:
Odds: Los Angeles -2.5
Total: 48.5
This has some potential to be a pretty good game. The Cardinals were a different team after Kyler Murray returned from an NFL injury. The Rams had a decent rebound last year after a horrible 2022 and finished with 10 wins. Arizona will likely need a couple of seasons to recover from some poor personnel moves last year.
The team does have some talented youngsters, but also a lot of holes. This is a tough one for your Week 2 NFL game picks, but there is some merit to taking the Cardinals in a teaser and pushing the line past seven.
Bengals vs Chiefs
Day/Time:
Odds: Kansas City -4
Total: 49
A solid Week 2 game on the NFL schedule 2024 sees the Bengals visiting Kansas City. The line appears to be a half-point or full point low, but it’s hard to gauge how much Joe Burrow’s injury problems affected Cincinnati last season.
Kansas City is coming off the game with Baltimore, but shouldn’t suffer any type of letdown. The Chiefs have been in plenty of big games and know people will be gunning for them this season.
Steelers vs Broncos
Day/Time:
Odds: Pittsburgh -3
Total: 41.5
Russell Wilson is unlikely to get a very warm reception from the Denver fans in this game. While he didn’t really play that poorly last season, he was still the team’s whipping boy and the Broncos felt it was best to move on from him.
Denver is still paying Wilson, so it would hurt that much more if he leads the Steelers to victory here. The Week 2 NFL odds and predictions have Pittsburgh pulling out the victory, although it’s not really an easy game to wager.
Bears vs Texans
Day/Time:
Odds: Houston -3.5
Total: 47
The NFL 2024 preview Week 2 gives fans an entertaining game between a pair of young quarterbacks. CJ Stroud lived up to his hype last year. It remains to be seen if Caleb Williams can do the same. The Bears have their two prized rookies on offense, but Houston has the better defense.
Williams should turn out to be a solid quarterback, but taking him as a small road underdog against a rabid Houston fanbase doesn’t sound to appealing here. If you’re going to play the game, the Texans look to be the correct side.
Falcons vs Eagles
Day/Time:
Odds: Philadelphia -3.5 (-105)
Total: 48.5
This is one of the those puzzling games, where Philadelphia is going to be a popular choice for the NFL expert picks, but the Eagles are slightly smaller favorites than expected. Kirk Cousins is better than the Atlanta quarterbacks from last year, but he still needs time to throw.
The Eagles will try to disrupt Cousins in the pocket and are capable of doing that. This game would be an easy pass if it wasn’t the Monday night game. From that perspective, the over appears to offer a little more value than the under.
